Michigan Legislature Approves Compromise Raising State Minimum Wage to $9.25 an Hour

Group is scheduled to turn in signatures Wednesday for ballot proposal to raise minimum wage higher
LANSING - Michigan's minimum wage would increase to $9.25 per hour under a compromise bill approved by state Legislature on Tuesday. The bill gradually would raise the minimum wage from $7.40 per hour to $9.25 per hour by 2018. The rate for tipped employees, which is currently $2.65, would be 38 percent of the regular minimum wage.

LANSING - Michigan's minimum wage would increase to $8.50 per hour under the latest proposal up for debate in the state Legislature. The House Government Operations Committee on Tuesday approved a substitute version of Senate Bill 934 that implements smaller wage increases than the version passed by the full Senate.
