Federal Regulators Find "Insufficient Actions" to Improve Palisades Work Environment

COVERT TOWNSHIP, MI - Palisades Nuclear Power Plant did not "demonstrate a strong commitment to effectively improve" the safety culture in the "chilled work environment" in its security department, according to a letter the Nuclear Regulatory Commission sent June 20 to plant management.

Palisades Nuclear Plant Off-Line Again

COVERT TOWNSHIP, MI - Palisades Nuclear Power Plant was removed from service at 11:30 p.m. Friday, (June 20). That is being done to conduct a "planned maintenance outage" to replace a primary coolant pump seal, says Lindsay Rose, spokeswoman for Entergy Corp., which owns Palisades.

Oil Leak Found At Palisades Nuclear Power Plant

COVERT TOWNSHIP, MI - An oil leak was discovered at Palisades Nuclear Power Plant Thursday evening. The spilled oil does not have a path to reach Lake Michigan or any other surface water, according to an incident report. "The oil released to the ground was approximately 70 gallons, which is greater than the reporting requirements," the report read.

COVERT TOWNSHIP, MI - A broken piece of metal from an impeller blade should have no impact on the reactor vessel or fuel at Palisades Nuclear Power Plant, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission reported Monday. Palisades returned to service Sunday, after a 55 day outage for refueling and maintenance.

Palisades Nuclear Power Plant Back to Service After Scheduled 55 Day Outage

COVERT TOWNSHIP, MI - The Palisades Nuclear Power Plant was put back into service Sunday morning following a 55-day, 19-hour scheduled refueling and maintenance outage that began Jan. 19. During the maintenance period, which was the plant's 23rd refueling outage, 64 used fuel assemblies were removed from the reactor vessel and replaced, according to a press release issued Sunday morning.
