Don Ziemke, the developer for Great Lakes Convenience, told the Portage Planning Commission he needed more time to address concerns raised by city staff.

Portage City Manager Maurice Evans to Retire

PORTAGE, MI -- Portage City Manager Maurice Evans will retire in April after eight years leading the city, Mayor Pete Strazdas said in a press release late Monday afternoon. Evans, 62, started working for the city in 2005, after working as Marshall city manager from 1992 to 2005 and in Three Rivers from 1988 to 1992.
