PORTAGE, MI -- Two incumbents and a former council member were elected for the next four years to the Portage City Council in Tuesday's city elections. Claudette Reid, the current mayor pro-tem who was seeking her third term, was the top vote getter in the election, tallying 2,531 votes.

Portage Rotary Club won't seek jail time for former City Councilwoman accused of embezzlement

Robert Borsos, a Portage attorney and past president of the city's Rotary Club, said it is the hope of Rotary Club officials that Elizabeth Campbell will not face jail time for the theft, which she was officially charged with Wednesday when a Kalamazoo County District judge arraigned Campbell on one count of embezzlement by a trustee/agent of more than $20,000 but less than $50,000.

PORTAGE, MI - Some Portage city workers will be getting a pay raise for the first time in four years. Seventeen Portage Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Services employees represented by the United Auto Workers have a new two-year labor agreement with the city.
