Benton Harbor Recall Election Delayed

Election to decide if Mayor James Hightower will be recalled was scheduled for Tuesday
It'll be later this year, if at all, before Benton Harbor voters cast ballots for or against the recall of Mayor James Hightower. On Thursday, Berrien County Trial Court Judge John Dewane granted county Clerk Sharon Tyler's request for a preliminary injunction delaying the recall election, originally set for Tuesday.

Benton Harbor Activist Charged With Election Fraud in Effort to Recall Mayor

BENTON HARBOR - Activist Edward Pinkney has been charged with five counts of election forgery in the effort to recall Benton Harbor Mayor James Hightower, authorities reported Thursday. Pinkney, 65, had not been arrested by late Thursday because law enforcement can't find him, Sheriff Paul Bailey said.

ALAMO TOWNSHIP, MI - Petitions have been filed to recall Alamo Township Supervisor Lou Conti and Trustee Dawn Potter-Williams after what has been a tumultuous first year for the township board under Conti's leadership. Petitions to recall Conti and Potter-Williams were filed Thursday with Kalamazoo County Clerk Tim Snow -- exactly one year after the supervisor and the current board were elected.
