Attorney General says Michigan Supreme Court shouldn't hear appeal in "Right to Work" case

LANSING - The Michigan Supreme Court shouldn't waste its time taking up an appeal over one of the state's controversial right-to-work laws, Republican Attorney General Bill Schuette wrote in a court filing this week. Schuette opposes the state employee unions' effort to appeal a Court of Appeals ruling in August, which found Michigan's public-sector right-to-work law does apply to the state's 35,000 unionized workers.

UAW appeals right-to-work for state employees

The United Auto Workers union says only the Civil Service Commission can oversee their work policies. The right-to-work case will now be brought before the Michigan Supreme Court.
LANSING - A union says it will appeal a state Court of Appeals ruling that says Michigan's right-to-work law applies to state employees. The United Auto Workers notified its members of the planned appeal through an e-mailed newsletter. UAW Local 6000 is the largest union representing state employees, with about 17,000 members.

Right-to-work lawsuit trail delayed
