Friday, Aprill 11th, is the Day of Silence, a national event that protests the bullying and harassment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students and their supporters.

Ruling that Michigan's ban on Same-Sex Marriage is unconstitutional is under appeal and has been stayed


A federal appeals court won't consider the issue until this summer but U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder isn't waiting. The Gongwer News Service reports that Holder has announced that the federal government will extend benefits to about 300 same-sex couples who were married in Michigan last weekend. All of the Democrats in the state's congressional delegation had urged Holder to recognize the marriages now.

More than 300 marriage licenses were issued after last week's ruling by a federal judge. That stopped after a stay was issued Saturday
