Signatures collected move Saugatuck, Douglas closer to consolidation vote

Signatures are due with State Boundary Commission on February 19th to call election on merging the two cities
Saugatuck and Douglas residents circulating petitions for a vote on the merger of the two communities have collected more than 250 signatures so far, according to the anti-consolidation group Citizens for Independent and Cooperative Communities. They need about 90 signatures. The group plans to circulate the petitions until at least Jan.
