Damage From Tornado in Kent County Estimated at $4.5-Million

KENT COUNTY, MI -- County officials say Sunday's tornado that ripped through Wyoming and Kentwood caused an estimated $4.5 million in damage to about 300 structures. Jack Stewart, director of the Kent County Emergency Management Division, said a team of workers determined the damage estimate over the last three days.

The utility reports 3.7 percent of its Kalamazoo County customers are affected. Traffic lights were out on South Westnedge Avenue in the area of Kilgore Road, drivers report.
