Consumers Energy says 6,500 in Kalamazoo County without power

KALAMAZOO, MI -- It might not be until the day after Christmas that the nearly 6,500 Consumers Energy customers in Kalamazoo County affected by Sunday's power outage get their lights turned back on. Currently 6,497 customers in Kalamazoo County are without power due to an ice storm that struck overnight, Consumers Energy spokesman Roger Morgenstern said in a press release issued Sunday evening.

Warming Centers open in Barry and Calhoun Counties

Thousands of Calhoun County residents may face a cold Christmas after the weekend ice storm. About 9,500 county residents, most in the greater Battle Creek area, were without electric service Sunday night after more than a quarter-inch of ice formed on trees and power lines Saturday night.
