MATTAWAN, MI -- Mattawan High School gymnasium is likely to be unusable until at least mid-February, as workers scramble to repair damage caused by a Nov. 17 windstorm, school officials say. The storm blew off part of the gym roof, causing water damage to the gym floor.

Most customers should have power back by late Thursday night

KALAMAZOO, MI - As the number of people without power continues to dwindle in Southwest Michigan, shelters for those affected by the Sunday's storm have closed. All of the remaining American Red Cross shelters in West Michigan have closed, the agency said.

Consumers Energy says power should be fully restored by Friday

KALAMAZOO, MI - Consumers Energy officials said Wednesday afternoon that crews are ahead of schedule and the utility provider expects to have power fully restored by Friday, a day sooner than planned. About 41,900 Consumers customers were still without power, as of 11:30 a.m., according to a news release issued by the company.
