Western Michigan University English Professor Alan Webb says a Day of Learning and Action planned for Monday would be a different event if Hillary Clinton had been elected President. But Webb says the issues being discussed are important regardless of who is in the White House.

Kalamazoo Peace House co-founder Jerry Berrigan says the Reverend Daniel Berrigan became more frail in his later years. But he says his uncle remained convinced that work for peace was necessary. 


In May the first Urban Democracy Feast was held in Kalamazoo. It offers people with an idea for a social justice project the chance to make their pitch for funding. The Urban Feast includes dinner and presentations about ideas for tackling an issue in the community.

The Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership at Kalamazoo College has a new leader. The college says it’s picked Mia Henry as the center’s executive director. She replaces former Arcus Center director Jaime Grant.
