(MPRN-Lansing) Bills to ease penalties for minors who are caught with alcohol have cleared the state Senate. 

"LANSING, MI -- Groups representing local government and school leaders have filed a lawsuit against the state, claiming the recent 'gag order' bill signed by Gov. Rick Snyder earlier this month is unconstitutional. The bill in question passed the legislature in December, ballooning from 12 to 53 pages in a last-minute substitute." (MLive)

State Senator Virgil Smith (D-Detroit) has been charged with multiple gun and assault felonies. He’s accused of hitting his ex-wife and shooting 10 bullets into her car.
