KALAMAZOO, MI - The Kalamazoo City Commission will interview six people next week for a vacancy on the commission. Commissioners will interview Leona Carter, Eric Cunningham, Grant Fletcher, Mark Fricke, Tracy Hall and William Wells on Monday, Jan. 12. Interviews start at 6 p.m. at Kalamazoo City Hall.

KALAMAZOO, MI - The Kalamazoo City Commission will accept applications from residents seeking appointment to the vacant commission seat until Dec. 12. Commissioner Stephanie Moore will be sworn in as a Kalamazoo County Commissioner in January, therefore leaving her city commission seat vacant as of Dec. 31.

City Commissioners Propose Anti-Poverty Plan

Kalamazoo City Commissioners say community involvement would be  key to the effectiveness of a proposed anti-poverty initiative.

Commissioners Don Cooney and Stephanie Moore introduced plans for a program called Kalamazoo United for Shared Prosperity or KUSP at a packed meeting at City Hall last night. Among other ideas, they suggested creating a task force to consider solutions and expanding local data collection after the example of Calhoun County’s Coordinating Council.
