Local historic designation may impact WMU's plans to purchase 10 homes

University of Michigan regents to pick new president Friday

The Board of Regents will announce the next president of the University of Michigan on Friday morning, U-M confirmed this morning. Regents called a special meeting at 10 a.m., but would not say the reason on Thursday.

Men's basketball: Western Michigan 75 Kent State 59

The Western Michigan men's basketball team did something on Thursday in Kent, Ohio it hadn't done in nearly 18 years. The Broncos' 75-59 win at Kent State University was the program's first since Feb. 17, 1996. It was also just the fourth time a Mid-American Conference West Division opponent has won at KSU in 40 attempts.

Kalamazoo Schools closed Friday

KALAMAZOO, MI -- Kalamazoo Public Schools will be closed Friday because of the extreme cold. The district's schedule originally called for a half-day of classes on Jan. 24. Friday's high temperature is expected to be 17 degrees, but strong winds mean a wind chill as low as minus 20.
