East Hall input session rescheduled for January 14th

KALAMAZOO, MI - Western Michigan University has rescheduled its second community input session on the redesign of East Hall for Jan. 14. It had been postponed due to the university's Jan. 6-7 closure for the weather. The session will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Battle Creek group gets grant to work on food related issues

Good Food Battle Creek participants have received grants issued by the Fair Food Network to continue their work related to food justice and improving local food systems. The five organizations will use the money for work that includes young people of the community in hopes of creating educational and entrepreneurial training.

State plans to investigate utilities handling of power outages

Michigan regulators will investigate the way two major utilities handled a December ice storm that knocked out power for up to a week for 661,000 customers across the state. Meanwhile, Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero appointed a retired Michigan National Guard brigadier general to lead a probe of the performance of a third utility the Lansing Board of Water and Light and asked state regulators to review the probe once its finished.
