Bill to make it easier to phase out landline service clears state Senate

American Association of Retired Persons has concerns about ensuring service
LANSING - Controversial legislation that makes it easier for phone companies to discontinue traditional landline service passed the Michigan Senate by a wide margin on Thursday. Senators voted 31-4 in favor of Senate Bill 636, which streamlines the approval process for a company to stop traditional landline, or "plain old telephone service" in an area starting in 2017.

Enbridge sues over access to land for cleanup

A lawsuit filed by Enbridge Inc. against owners of a farm along Talmadge Creek has been moved to federal court. Attorneys for Fredonia Farms last week took the case from Calhoun County Circuit Court to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan in late November.
