Battle Creek firefighters sue for back pay

Unhappy with a decision by the U.S. Department of Labor on unpaid overtime, Battle Creek firefighters are suing the city. A suit was filed Tuesday in United States District Court in Grand Rapids on behalf of 57 firefighters and eight former firefighters, seeking about $1 million from the city, according to attorney Ann Oldfather of Louisville, Ky.

Michigan Budget Director says shutdown costing $18-million a day

Federal government shutdown felt in Battle Creek
