Some Consumers Energy customers may not get power back until Saturday

KALAMAZOO, MI - Consumers Energy has been able to restore power to some in Southwest Michigan, but more than 47,000 in the region are still without electricity one day after a powerful storm swept through the region. Power may not be restored for most until Friday and some harder-hit regions could have to wait until Saturday, Consumers Energy said in a press release.

KALAMAZOO, MI The number of people in Southwest Michigan without power continued to climb Monday, one day after a storm swept through the region with wind gusts of up to 60 mph. It may be until late Friday until power is restored for most, Consumers Energy said in a press release, and it could take as long as Saturday for those in harder-hit areas.

City of Kalamazoo looks to purchase properties for widening at Oakland and Parkview

KALAMAZOO, MI -- The city of Kalamazoo is looking to acquire several pieces of property and easements needed to make improvements to the intersection of Oakland Drive and Parkview Avenue. City plans include adding a southbound through lane on Oakland Drive and a westbound through lane on Parkview Avenue, along with a northbound right turn lane on Oakland Drive.

Nuclear regulators say their confident in safety of Palisades

Nuclear regulators are confident that the Palisades Nuclear Power Plant near South Haven has improved its safety performance enough to end a series of public web seminars on the facility.The last of six online information sessions was Thursday night and focused on safety questions about the 42 casks that hold spent radioactive fuel along the shore of Lake Michigan.
