Greg Gray, the 41-year-old superintendent of Brighton Area Schools, is the sole finalist to head Portage Public Schools, the Portage school board decided Monday. Board members at their meeting Monday praised Gray's track record and said he was the candidate that best fit their criteria for the job.

RICHLAND, MI -- Jeff Heppler presided over his last Richland Village Council meeting Monday night. "I don't want to leave, but I have to because of a grant," Heppler said after resigning his seat on the council.
