Western Michigan University says it’s forming a committee in the hopes of better informing students about off-campus threats to their safety. Western faced criticism for not alerting students this weekend when it learned that a man was apparently shooting people at random as he drove around the community.

Western Michigan University students say they’re disappointed by the university’s lack of response to the Kalamazoo mass shooting. On Saturday night, Jason Brian Dalton of Kalamazoo opened fire at three locations in the area - a townhome, a Cracker Barrel restaurant in Texas Township, and the Seeyle Kia.

WMU Wants 50 Percent Increase In Study Abroad

  By 2019, Western Michigan University hopes to see a 50 percent increase in the number of students studying abroad. But what will that mean for students juggling the cost of tuition, living expenses, and more? Western is already creating new programs to make studying abroad easier.

Western Michigan University President Dunn is getting a raise. University trustees approved the pay increase during a special meeting on Friday, December 18. Dunn will get a two-percent increase in line with raises for non-union Western employees during the current fiscal year. That brings his annual salary to $398,240.
