WMU celebrates El Dia De Los Muertos

Friday, November 1st is the first day of El Dia De Los Muertos—a Mexican holiday honoring the dead and celebrating their souls yearly visit to Earth. Though it’s called “The Day of the Dead,” the holiday actually lasts two days: the first day honors children and the second day is for adults.

Making sustainability a habit

A Western Michigan University graduate student is working on a project she hopes will dramatize the costs of not saving energy. The project was one focus of National Campus Sustainability Day events at Western on Wednesday (Oct. 23).

Western Michigan University officials say it has been working on ways to cut energy use for nearly two decades even has the number of buildings on campus grew. And Western President John Dunn says those efforts have paid off:

Average tuition increase 3.45% at state universities in Michigan

Average sticker prices at the nation's 4-year public universities rose 2.9% this year, the smallest annual increase in more than three decades, suggesting that the steeper increases over the past few years didn't signal a new era of accelerating prices, says a report out today.
