Wilmar says it will halt deforestation practices

Following months of protests and pressure from community organizations, Wilmar International has announced policies that will aim to halt deforestation practices. The Singapore-based company said Thursday it would only provide palm oil that wasn't produced through rainforest destruction and human rights abuse.

Group continues to press Kellogg on palm oil

Kellogg Co. officials were handed thousands of petition signatures Wednesday as residents and environmentalists gathered outside headquarters in another push to end alleged rainforest destruction. Wearing coats and holding signs, more than 70 people stood across the street from the Battle Creek-based company's offices.
