Demolition Begins on Wings of WMU's East Hall

KALAMAZOO, MI -- Western Michigan University began demolition work on the south wing of East Hall Monday. The core of the historic building, the university's birthplace, is being preserved and turned into a $21 million Alumni Center, set to open in the Fall of 2015.

Next Phase of East Campus Demolition Set to Begin

KALAMAZOO, MI - Western Michigan University is scheduled to begin Phase 2 of the demolition on historic East Campus next week, according to a university spokeswoman. Workers began conducting abatement on the wings of East Hall this week. They are expected to finish with that process around the middle of next week, said Cheryl Roland, executive director of university relations.

WMU Releases Final Plans for New East Hall

KALAMAZOO, MI - When the renovation of East Hall begins in May, construction materials will include a lot less glass and a lot more brick. That's according to the final plans for the $21 million redesign of WMU's birthplace, which were released Tuesday afternoon by Western Michigan University and TowerPinkster, the Kalamazoo-based architecture firm leading the project.
