KALAMAZOO, MI - Toledo and Western Michigan were picked as the top two teams in Mid-American Conference's West Division respectively and the first meeting between the two squads did not disappoint. Western Michigan came out firing Wednesday and built a 22-point lead in the first half, but a high-powered Rockets offense did not go down quietly.

KALAMAZOO, MI -- A four-point play pulled Siena Heights within three points midway through the first half, but that's where the drama ended Thursday at University Arena. The Saints' Jamison Webster made a 3-pointer and the free throw after being fouled with 10:46 remaining in the first half, but Western Michigan closed the first half on a 34-10 run to cruise to an 83-47 win in its final non-conference tune-up.

Western Michigan University men's basketball coach Steve Hawkins said Wednesday night he wished the Broncos had a game to play Thursday. WMU dropped its third consecutive game with a 71-68 loss at Drake in Des Moines, Iowa on Wednesday and Hawkins sounded less than pleased during his postgame radio interview.

KALAMZOO, MI -- Western Michigan University men's basketball team had to weather a first half in which Oakland drained its first eight three-point shots and outscored the Broncos 16-0 off the bench. Weather it WMU did. Western Michigan (4-2) defeated Oakland (0-7) 99-88 Tuesday night in front of the 2,228 fans that made their way to WMU's University Arena.
