WMU Hockey Hires Assistant Coach from Providence

KALAMAZOO, MI -- The Western Michigan University hockey program will hire Providence College assistant coach Ben Barr as an associate head coach, the school announced Sunday. Barr replaces Rob Facca, who was hired by the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks to a scouting position on June 18.

Former WMU Football Coach Bill Doolittle Remembered

KALAMAZOO, MI - Fight on, fight on for Western. There were few dry eyes in the room as a crowd of more than 100 sang the Western Michigan University Fight Song during a memorial service Sunday for former Western Michigan University football coach Bill "Doo" Doolittle at the Seelye Athletic Center.

The Western Michigan men's basketball team did something on Thursday in Kent, Ohio it hadn't done in nearly 18 years. The Broncos' 75-59 win at Kent State University was the program's first since Feb. 17, 1996. It was also just the fourth time a Mid-American Conference West Division opponent has won at KSU in 40 attempts.

KALAMAZOO, Mi. - One of these days, Western Michigan University's women's basketball team will learn how to play with a lead. That didn't happen, again, Wednesday night as the Broncos had a 17-point lead in the second half against Miami only to have the RedHawks tie the game at 73 with a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
