WMU Paintball team wins national tournaments

Staying active, meeting new people and being outdoors are some of the reasons people try paintball. Here’s why members of the Western Michigan University paintball team say they play paintball.  

“The adrenaline rush. Nothing else is like it," says Tim Drahokoupil. " I snowboard, I’ve rock climbed. Nothing else is like the adrenaline rush of paintball.”

$1-million donation to pay for improvements at Western Michigan University's Lawson and University Arena

KALAMAZOO, MI -- The scoreboards and sound systems at Lawson Ice Arena and University Arena are on track to receive major upgrades. Western Michigan University athletic director Kathy Beauregard said Thursday the school has received a $1 million donation from anonymous donors for the purpose of upgrading the scoreboard, video board system and sound system at both University Arena and Lawson Ice Arena.

It was tough enough for the Western Michigan University basketball team to contain Bowling Green's dynamic duo of A'uston Calhoun and Jordon Crawford Wednesday night. The Broncos made things more difficult on themselves with turnovers and missed free throws. As a result, WMU suffered its second straight loss on the road, 70-60, at the Stroh Center in Bowling Green, Ohio.
