WMU Paintball team wins national tournaments

Staying active, meeting new people and being outdoors are some of the reasons people try paintball. Here’s why members of the Western Michigan University paintball team say they play paintball.  

“The adrenaline rush. Nothing else is like it," says Tim Drahokoupil. " I snowboard, I’ve rock climbed. Nothing else is like the adrenaline rush of paintball.”

Allegan artist's masks show serenity and humor

Allegan ceramic artist Jen Lawson-Steeves is obsessed with noses. Lawson-Steeves’ masks will be on display at Fancy Pants Theater during the Kalamazoo Art Hop on Friday.

“Honestly I love looking at people’s faces, and noses are my inspiration. It’s so funny to say that, but I love noses. And that’s how I start every single mask is with a nose. And that really is what actually draws out what the mask becomes.”

Spring Festival celebrates Indian culture with food, Bollywood music

Imagine a giant snowball fight, only instead of snow, everyone has a handful of a different colored powder. That’s what the Hindu holiday of Holi is like in India. Here in Michigan, the India Association of Kalamazoo will hold its Spring Festival on Saturday to celebrate Holi and other Indian festivals that mark the coming of spring.
