Auroras likely over Michigan Wednesday night

The celestial light show is the result of a large solar flare affecting the earth's magnetic field.
Southeast Michigan residents might get a visual treat tonight. The aurora borealis, or northern lights, could be visible in the Detroit area if conditions are right, said to Debra Elliott, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in White Lake Township. The best viewing likely would be shortly after midnight, Elliot said.
