K-12 online learning grows in Michigan

Lead in text:
Local public schools must pay for up to two online classes per student each semester in grades 5 through 12 even though students don't need to get approval from their own schools to sign up.
In what may be the biggest change, public school students in Grades 5-12 will be able to take up to two online courses per semester offered by any district or the state's virtual school - classes that will be part of a statewide catalog of online classes maintained by the Michigan Virtual University (MVU) that will be up and running in October.
