MI Charter Schools Want Peer Review

State School Superintendent Mike Flanagan has threatened to revoke the ability of some universities and other organizations to authorize charter schools unless they improve student achievement and business transparency.

A group of Michigan's charter school authorizers wants to establish a peer-review accreditation process that could help the Michigan Department of Education determine if they are doing a good job. The commission would evaluate any authorizer that voluntary joins on nine criteria and give it one of three grades - accredited, accredited with conditions or not accredited.
