LANSING - The Michigan Senate voted unanimously today to "Spread the word to end the word," a national campaign to remove the word retarded from state law. The seven bill package will remove the word from a variety of laws dealing with criminal activity, the foster care system, mental health institutions, insurance claims, educational facilities and surrogate parenting.
