New approved delegates could influence battle over state Democratic party leadership

Lansing - A Michigan Democratic Party appeals committee has cleared the way for more than 1,300 new members to vote in Saturday's contentious chairman's election at the party's state convention. The new party members, submitted and paid for by the United Auto Workers, could be used to help the UAW and Democratic congressional delegation overthrow longtime party chairman Mark Brewer.
