State House could vote Thursday on moving ahead with Common Core curriculum

Lansing - House lawmakers are taking up a resolution Wednesday that would resume funding for Michigan's Common Core State standards, just days before the state's Oct. 1 deadline for spending in the new fiscal year. The standards, which are stricter benchmarks in reading and math for Michigan's K-12 students, have generated tremendous controversy nationally and in the state.
