Tuskegee Airmen Exhibit in Battle Creek
History of African-American pilots part of traveling exhibit
For two weeks, Battle Creek will have a chance to take a closer look at American history. The Tuskegee Airmen were a group of African-American U.S. military pilots based in Tuskegee, Ala. Although the Army Air Corps was required to set up the airplane training base, many thought it would be unsuccessful because it was the first time African Americans were allowed to become pilots.
