Village officials say agreement will save about $65,000 a year on public safety

HOMER - The sheriff is back in the village of Homer. Homer Village Council voted 7-0 Tuesday night to replace its police department with deputies from the Calhoun County Sheriff Department. The council voted to negotiate a contract with the department to save money in their budget, said Village Manager Jerry Stonebreaker.
